
Jazmine was raised and born within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mom is an ex-backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. At the age of five, older, her father was offered a position as a curator of Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the mansion's historical site. In 2005 she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with an alumna of the vocal music department. Sullivan began her singing career as a contralto children's choir. She then joined a few years later in the adult choir. Sullivan was never exposed to secular music at beginning. "When when I was 11 and a half, someone asked me to register for the gospel recording. I didn't want to take that step," she says. "Then the time came that McDonald's held a contest for youngsters in the major cities I had the opportunity to perform 'Accept Whatever God Wills' on Showtime at the Apollo and the audience were very supportive". In the year 13 she performed along alongside Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan was first signed to Jive Records at the age fifteen. She was signed to Jive Records when she was 15. She produced an entire album but this album didn't get released. Sullivan was eventually dropped from the label. They maintained a friendship with Missy Elliott who wrote and recorded several tracks in her debut album like the smash single "Backstabbers" which was produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
